Raréfaction et sécurisation de l’eau dans un bassin méditerranéen sous contraintes de réchauffement climatique et de croissance démographique

This research is devoted to the modelling of flows in a coastal multilayer aquifer facing intensive pumping and reduced rainfall recharge. The approach used consists of modelling groundwater flows and the possible advance of marine waters from various geological, hydrogeological and ... obtained over several years. Model results indicate that groundwater withdrawals have led to a decrease in natural flow, downward drainage throughout most of the basin, and a continued decline in water levels. The model shows that the aquifer complex has low recharge but excellent hydraulic properties. The decline in groundwater levels illustrates the vulnerability of the aquifer in coastal areas where flows with high chloride concentrations can be observed, particularly to the Salines wellfield.

Approche méthodologique pour la protection des eaux du bassin versant de l'Oued Abdi (Massifs des Aurès)

The Oued Abdi watershed is located in the Aurès chain in the Atlas of the Eastern Sahara in northeastern Algeria. The watershed is characterized by an area of 692 km2, a perimeter of about 192 km. The majority of the waters in the study area belong to the following two major chemical facies; calcium bicarbonate water and calcium sulphate water; the first comes from limestone and the second comes from the gypsum formations of the Lutetian. This confirms our belief that water from springs and boreholes belong to the same aquifers or connecting aquifers, or that is, it is a fissured multi-layered system.
