Utopia and Dystopia: A Comparative Study of USA and Moorish Spain
The US was initially constructed as a religious utopia which failed from the very beginning. However, that belief in utopiadid not vanish and had taken two new forms: the American dream and the American exceptionalism. But, though the idea of utopia was still preserved, it's no more the same as before as it's devoid of the sacred will of the pilgrims. Many scholars have tackled the failure of the American dream together with the inauthenticity of the American exceptionalism. Many others have exposed the failure of the American utopia, and others have evenconsidered America as a dystopia… However, most of the previous studies are only concerned with proving and giving evidence about these myths and failures as separate entities without looking for a possible shared reason behind these issues. This work, then, attempts to offer a different perspective from that literature and that by trying to find the major shared reason(s) behind these failures.
