Résumé: This paper addresses the issue of tracking the output of an activated sludge process using fuzzy integral control. First, the dynamics of the nonlinear process are modeled with a dynamic state space fuzzy model integrating the effect of external disturbances, and then an additional integral state of the output tracking error is introduced to obtain an augmented Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model. The TS fuzzy model is able to describe the dynamics of complex nonlinear systems with an excellent degree of accuracy. It is formulated by fuzzy if-then rules which can give local linear representation of the overall nonlinear system. Second, the design of the fuzzy integral control is performed, in which the state feedback gains are obtained by solving linear matrix inequalities (LMI). The objective is to ensure trajectory tracking of an activated sludge process (ASP) by controlling two key variables: the substrate concentration and the level of dissolved oxygen. To assess the performance of the proposed control strategy, a comparative analysis is carried out with a gain scheduling PI (GS-PI) controller. Simulation results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Where, the fuzzy integral control reduces the high energy consumption in water treatment plants.
Résumé: A new approach to build an interval observer for nonlinear uncertain systems is presented in this paper. Nonlinear systems modeled in the Takagi-Sugeno (TS) form are studied. A TS proportional observer is first issued by pole-placement and LMI tools. Secondly, time-varying change of coordinates for each dynamic state estimation error is used to design an interval observer. The system state bounds are then directly deduced.
Résumé: The present work deals with the calculation of the time varying induced emf in permanent magnet synchronous machines from the numerical finite element solution. A review of the existing methods is presented; their intrinsic merits, in terms of accuracy and speed of computation, are compared. The currently used method, which relies on a weighting averaging procedure of the magnetic vector potential (MVP) over the slot area in order to derive the winding flux linkage and the stator induced, has been modified to enhance its accuracy. An alternative method, which relies on the magnetic vector potential distribution along the mid airgap line, is proposed to carry out the same task. This approach has turned out to be very efficient since it enables a straightforward data handling, signal reconstruction, filtering and spectrum analysis of the relevant waveforms to be easily implemented in a single post-processing function …

Résumé: The anaerobic digestion is a wastewater treatment process without oxygen. It is a very complex process with a nonlinear model of six variables. This model is complex for state estimation and automatic control. We propose a nonlinear equivalent model but for which the theories developed for the linear case can be applied easily using the LMI tools.
