Résumé: Résumé This study aims to delve into the intricate dynamics of linguistic hybridity in Assia Djebar's Nowhere in My Father’s House by examining its translation into Arabic. The central question we explore is to highlight the challenges and strategies employed during this transcultural process, where the translation of an Algerian novel written in French serves as a space for dialogue between heritage and modernity, thereby redefining concepts of language and identity within a postcolonial framework. To address this question, we will conduct a qualitative and comparative analysis. This will enable us to ascertain whether the translator's strategies, specifically foreignization and domestication, have successfully rendered the markers of otherness and preserved the heterogeneity and richness of the source text. Résumé: Résumé Résumé: La présente étude analyse la traduction de Nulle part dans la maison de mon père d’Assia Djebar vers la langue arabe, sous le prisme des théories postcoloniales et traductologiques. L’hybridité linguistique et culturelle, au cœur de l’écriture djébarienne, confronte le traducteur à un espace de négociation complexe, proche du Tiers espace, selon Bhabha. L’analyse révèle des choix oscillant entre domestication et étrangéisation, avec des implications éthiques majeures. La traduction apparaît, dès lors comme un acte politique et esthétique qui engage la restitution de l’altérité et de la polyphonie, nécessaire à la réception des littératures maghrébines francophones. Abstract: This study examines the Arabic translation of Nowhere in My Father’s House by Assia Djebar through the theoretical frameworks of postcolonialism and translation studies. At the core of Djebar’s writing lies a profound linguistic and cultural hybridity, which situates the translator within a complex space of negotiation reminiscent of Homi Bhabha’s concept of the Third Space. The analysis highlights translational choices that fluctuate between strategies of domestication and foreignization, each carrying significant ethical ramifications. Translation is thus conceptualized as both a political and aesthetic act ; one that is fundamentally implicated in the representation of alterity and the preservation of polyphony, both of which are crucial to the reception and interpretation of Francophone Maghrebi literature.
