My priority research areas revolve around marine biodiversity and ecology, with a particular interest in understanding the ichthyological and invertebrate populations colonizing the infralittoral zone (rocks and Posidonia seagrass beds). I am also interested in the biological resources of shallow waters (fish and invertebrates) and those that frequent artificial reefs or reside within marine protected areas in order to better understand the functioning of these two integrated coastal management tools. My research activities are based on the use of non-destructive sampling methods, including in situ observations using free diving and scuba diving. These sampling methods allow for qualitative and quantitative inventories of coastal biodiversity without sampling. I am particularly interested in emblematic and exotic species that are accidentally introduced along the Algerian coasts (Herculean and Lessepsian species). Finally, I am active within NGOs (diving and environmental protection clubs and associations) as a trainer (federal 3*** scuba diving instructor) and scientific advisor (Probiom Foundation, Hyppone-Sub Association, Annaba) with a view to raising awareness and protecting the marine environment (underwater biology courses).
